Building thoughtful AI systems for small business.
I'm Alexander — a technologist based in the Twin Cities helping owners, operators, and tradespeople adopt AI without the hand-waving. Practical tools, careful integrations, and a long memory of how IT actually breaks.
Currently on the bench
Quote-to-proposal agent for a client. QuickBooks + Gmail + a careful human-in-the-loop step.
Anthropic's prompt caching docs and the latest MCP server patterns. Trying to keep up.
Wrapping a winter aerial survey package for a small commercial developer — drone work isn't going anywhere.
Eval harnesses. The unsexy half of "production AI" that nobody posts about.
What I actually do
AI engineering & integration
What I spend most of my week on.
- —Practical agent workflows: quoting, scheduling, intake, support.
- —Retrieval over your real documents — not a vector database for its own sake.
- —Model-agnostic where it pays, opinionated where it matters.
- —Evals, observability, guardrails. The boring stuff that keeps it running.
IT consulting
Carr Ventures Inc · since 2017.
- —Right-sized IT advice for small and mid-size businesses.
- —Migrations, M365 / Google Workspace, identity, networking.
- —Vendor sanity-checks and procurement, so you don't overpay.
Aerial imaging
FAA Part 107 certified.
- —Commercial real estate, construction progress, light inspection.
- —Greater Twin Cities metro. Insured, licensed, careful.
Selected work
-
Built a CRM tailored to how the client actually sells — with AI analysis layered on top: lead scoring, pipeline insights, and drafted follow-ups. Hours back every week.
ClaudeMCPPostgresTypeScript -
Retrieval over years of internal files, with cited sources on every answer. The team trained on it in an afternoon — no new habits required.
ClaudeRetrievalPostgres + pgvector -
Rebuilt a manual request pipeline into a connected workflow — requests come in, get triaged, and reach the right person automatically. Turnaround went from days to hours.
n8nGoogle WorkspaceTwilio -
Stitched ortho-imagery and edit-ready video on a standing schedule — delivered same-week, every cycle, FAA Part 107 compliant.

How I work
Smaller, sooner.
The smallest useful thing in two weeks beats the perfect thing in six months. AI is no exception.
Humans stay in the loop.
Especially for anything that touches money, contracts, or a customer's inbox.
Evaluate it like software.
If you can't measure it, you can't trust it. Evals before scale, every time.
Plain English, please.
If I can't explain it to the owner of the business in ten minutes, the design is wrong.
